LYT is a partnership project between ignite, Roding Valley Community Arts and Epping Forest Arts. It seeks to let children and young people explore their potential through performing arts, primarily in regular two-hour workshop sessions but also in performance and during special holiday projects.

LYT's regular slot is on Thursdays during term time from 7:00-9:00pm (dates for the 2010/11 Academic Year are at the foot of this page). A typical session might include a fun warm-up, a chance to learn or develop new skills, time to work in groups and chances to watch each other perform, as well as plenty of great drama games and working towards peformance pieces.
You do need to pre-register before you come along on a Thursday night because space in the groups is limited.

LYT is taught by professional drama tutors, assisted by students from East 15 Acting School and members of our LYT Young Leaders programme. It costs £25 per term to take part (or £2.50 a week if you prefer), although as with all ignite activities, if that would difficult for your family to pay, we will offer you a part-subsidised or free place. All new members of LYT receive a free t-shirt that can be worn at weekly sessions and for some performances. New t-shirts for returning members are charged at only £5.

New for this Academic Year, you can also chose what flavour of Thursday night session you'd like to take part in to best up match up to what you'd like to get out of LYT...

  • SHOWBIZ: Working on performance skills, particularly focussing on singing, dance and musicals.

"You are here to be light... God is not a secret to be kept."
A short note to explain our short quote...
This is something that a guy called Jesus from a place called Nazareth said, recorded in a book (sometimes called a 'gospel') about Him written by a guy called Matthew about 1900 years ago. Jesus spoke in a language called Aramaic, and Matthew wrote in a language called Hebrew, so it's been translated a bit since it was originally spoken. This translation of Jesus' words is recorded in a version of the Bible called "the Message". We think these words are *really* important; everything ignite does is about letting young people know that they are here to be lights shining in a dark world. It's pretty cool really to think that what one person said nearly 2000 years ago is still changing people's lives even today...
